Learning for ALLLearning for ALL is the Adult Literacies Learning Project in the Scottish Borders. We work with adults who have limited initial education and are: - Unemployed/facing redundancy
- In low-skilled jobs on low incomes
- Speakers of other languages
- Living in disadvantaged areas
- Dealing with Disabilty
We support people to develop their skills and to use language and numbers in their everyday lives. The project provides: - Adult Literacy and Numeracy tuition
- Support for BALSA - Learners' forum
- Literacies Awareness Raising
- Staff and Volunteer Development and Training
To be literate is to be able "to read, write and use numeracy to handle information, to express ideas and opinions, to make decisions and to solve problems, as family members, workers, citizens and lifelong learners." ALNIS REPORT 2001
Some Quotes from local learners"I'm a lot better at reading and more able to speak out"
"I'm extremely happy with the progress I've made."
"I feel more creative and more able to express myself"
"It's become clear that I want to learn more" What would YOU say?
We support people to gain confidence in their personal, family, working and community lives through literacies learning. If you want help with reading, writing or numbers or if you know someone who does, contact the local worker. Volunteers sometimes support workers.
