also from the village and a former pupill of Peebles High School.  Katie, a talented harpist, has won a prestigious Dewar Arts Award which will allow her to buy a new lever harp and extend her repertoire of classical, contemporary and folk pieces as well as her own compositions.    The award, set up as a memorial from the late Donald Dewar has already helped more than 100 young people.  17 year old Katie is now studying pedal harp at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire in the Hague.  We wish her well.

Goodbye to Stuart

Local postie Stuart Akers retired at the end of April afer 31 years with the Post Office.  Our very own' Postman Pat',  Stuart always had a cheery smile and would often stop for a chat.  But he won't be sitting twiddling his thumbs or putting his feet up.  A keen writer and playwright, Stuart has several projects on the go - we look forward to finding out more
